Qualifications

Successful completion of this bachelor’s degree program qualifies and authorizes you to teach at vocational schools and intermediate and advanced vocational schools in the following occupational fields:

  • Economy, Social Affairs, and Social Sciences, as well as Applied Economics
    (plus general education in Faculty I)
  • Engineering and Skilled Trades
  • Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology
  • Tourism, Hospitality, and Food
  • Service
  • Health, Exercise, Nutrition, and Beauty
  • Art, Design, and Creative Arts
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Construction and Related Industries
  • Agriculture and Forestry for Vocational Schools: Environment (for vocational schools)

 

Requirements

For all subject combinations, proof of relevant professional experience must be provided:

  • at least two years for graduates of a relevant vocational high school,
  • otherwise, at least three years.

In addition, the applicant must be currently employed as a teacher.

For Subject Cluster I, which includes general education and business administration courses:
  • successful completion of the graduation and diploma exams at a relevant vocational high school
  • or successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent relevant education.
For Subject Cluster II, theoretical subjects:
  • successful completion of the graduation and diploma exams at a relevant vocational high school
  • or successful completion of a high school diploma and relevant training
  • or the successful completion of a relevant degree program at a postsecondary educational institution totaling at least 240 ECTS credits.
For Subject Cluster III (Practical Subjects):
  • successful completion of a relevant master craftsman’s examination
  • or an equivalent relevant qualification, provided that it is one that authorizes the holder to perform the duties of the teaching profession in question

Acquiring knowledge in subject-specific pedagogy, practical subject expertise, and educational science will enable you to provide professional guidance to your students.

A key advantage of this in-service teacher education program is the close integration of practice and theory. You can discuss and reflect on questions and experiences from your day-to-day teaching with your fellow students and instructors, and you can also apply the content of your in-depth theoretical training directly in the classroom.

Student Affairs

The Perfect Balance Between Work and School

You work as a teacher at your home school and are simultaneously pursuing a six-semester degree program. The program generally requires at least one study day per week, during which you work toward your degree at the college of education.

The program combines in-person classes with a variety of teaching and learning formats, including synchronous and asynchronous online instruction. Digital learning platforms and video conferencing systems enable students to learn anytime and anywhere, making it easier to balance work and study.

 

Application to a Degree Program

An admissions process must be completed for the Department of Dual Vocational Education and Training and Engineering and Skilled Trades.
